Byron Kim, 'Synecdoche', 1991 - ongoing
This work consists of an ever-increasing number of small panels, painted with oil and wax. For each panel, Kim has people pose for him while he tries to match their skin-tone as precisely as possible. The work is installed alphabetically, based on the first letter of each sitter's name.
